Walt Coleman is off this week. Did anyone else know Bill Carollo is retiring at the end of this year?

Reply

Tex December 23, 2008 at 11:25 am

Yes Bill Carollo is retiring. That was known before the preseason started.

Added Corrente to the TEN/IND game, thanks.

Hold on, ESPN’s Chris Mortenson said yesterday thet Ed Hochuli would work the Colts-Titans game. You may want to check that one.

Reply

Tex December 23, 2008 at 1:08 pm

Does Chris Mortenson really know what is going on?

LOL

Hochuli mmmmmmmmmm –> in Greenbay? — mmmmmmmm

I wouldn’t put too much stock into what Chris Mortenson has to say. He’s been proven wrong many times in the past.

Corrente will be the ref for TEN/IND. It came straight from the Titans press release.

Reply

Mike December 23, 2008 at 3:25 pm

Just saw a report published by the AP listing Hochuli for TEN/IND and John Paray for DEN/SD

Reply

mickey December 23, 2008 at 3:38 pm

Hmm. I added Parry, but left Hochuli and Corrente where they are. There seems to be some confusion about those two games, with different reports for each one. Can you give us a link to this published report?

KMG 365 December 23, 2008 at 4:04 pm

I did a search and here’s an article about Hochuli and the article stating he will be in Indy:

Thanks. Good enough for me. Now who’s in Green Bay? :)

Reply

Tex December 23, 2008 at 7:06 pm

The Article say’s Hochuli in Greenbay — that is in Wisconsin. Like I stated in an email to Mickey 2 days ago

—–> HOCHULI working Lions VS Packers — this is NOT Indy.

The article has been corrected with Hochuli now in Green Bay.

Corrente will be the referee for Titans/Colts per the Titans press release.

They must have changed it. The dateline on it says 5:20pm EST today, which is after I posted the changes.

As always, you were right all along. :)

Giants VS Vikings – Referee is Terry McAulay

Cowboys VS Eagles – Referee is Alberto Riveron

Raiders VS Bucs – Referee is Ron Winter

Tex

Reply

Russ December 24, 2008 at 2:29 pm

cowboys vs Eales cannot be Riveron, he did the Cowboys in week 14

Reply

mickey December 24, 2008 at 2:39 pm

Updated, with a question mark next to Riveron until we figure out if it’s accurate or not.

Reply

Russ December 24, 2008 at 2:50 pm

Referee is probably Pete Morelli in Philly. He is the only available ref who could do this game.

Reply

Tex December 24, 2008 at 3:04 pm

Jerome Boger is Not in Cincy!

Tex

Reply

Russ December 24, 2008 at 5:18 pm

There is only 3 games Boger can do, however all of them have rferees in them already. I think we should get links on all these games since there are question marks.

Rams@Falcons
Dolphins@Jets
Seahawks@Cardinals

Reply

Russ December 24, 2008 at 5:18 pm

He will not be off, he has been off twice already

Reply

Russ December 24, 2008 at 5:19 pm

Is it possible Riveron is in Cincy

Reply

KMG 365 December 24, 2008 at 9:55 pm

It’s hard for me to believe that a rookie referee will work the DAL/PHI game. I know the refs get their schedule at the beginning of the season, so the NFL probably knew this game would have some playoff implications. I have to think the NFL would want a veteran referee for that game.

Reply

Ryan December 25, 2008 at 2:18 am

I believe that the NFL Referees are able to officiate a NFL team twice as Terry McAulay has officiated the Redskins in week 7 and then again in week 14. The only Referee’s who have not officiated a Redskins game is Pete Morelli, Ron Winter, and Mike Carey. Mike and Ron are already slated for games thus leaving Morelli who has not officiated a game with Redskins in it. Just thought I would share and I could be completely off that is just what I have gathered.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEARS

so have anybody figured out who will officiate the cowboys-eagle
game, since this game has playoff implications?

Reply

Russ December 25, 2008 at 5:53 pm

I cannot confirm the Eagles game yet, but I do have others to confirm.

Chiefs@Bengals-Bill Carollo
Jaguars@Ravens-Gene Steratore
Raiders@Buccaneers-Ron Winter

Reply

Russ December 25, 2008 at 6:16 pm

These are my guesses based on where Boger can be.

Seahawks@Cardinals-Jerome Boger
Patriots@Bills-Mike Carey
Redskins@49ers-Al Riveron
Cowboys@Eagles-Pete Morelli

Again, these are only predictions but I checked and all these would work. If anyone knows anything, please report.

Shane Spencer December 25, 2008 at 8:28 pm

With Bill Carollo retiring, I hope side judge Greg Meyer will become a referee effective 2009 because I want to see an NFL referee wear uniform number 78.

Reply

mickey December 25, 2008 at 8:39 pm

Updated with the confirmations from Russ.

Shane Spencer December 25, 2008 at 10:55 pm

The remaining referees are Boger, Riveron and Morelli, so let’s find out who will really referee the following NFL games:

NE @ BUF…Boger refereed two games involving the Bills, but none involving the Pats; Riveron refereed two games involving the Pats but none involving the Bills; Morelli did not referee an NFL game involving either of those two teams, so Boger will possibly be the referee.

DAL @ PHI…Boger refereed a game involving the Cowboys and two involving the Eagles (he refereed the previous week’s game involving the Eagles); Riveron and Morelli refereed a game involving those two teams, but not against each other, so Riveron will possibly be the referee.

WAS @ SF…Boger refereed a game involving the Redskins (it happened the previous week), and a game involving the 49ers; Riveron refereed a game involving those two teams, but not against each other; Morelli never refereed a game involving either of those two teams, so Morelli will possibly be the referee.

Reply

Russ December 26, 2008 at 12:02 am

But thats not exactly how it works Shane. A referee cannot ref a matchup twice in one season, that is true, but, tey also cannot do a team more than twice and there has to be at least 5 weeks in between the teams. Meaning Riveron could not do the Eagles Cowboys, even though Tex thinks he is the referee, because he did the Eagles in week 13 and the Cowboys in week 14 neither of which are 5 weeks apart. Boger cannot do Pats Bills because he has already done the Bills twice. Thats’s why I had the idea of putting Boger in a game that has already been placed with another referee like Seahawks Cardinals. That would make the original referee Mike Carey be the ref for Pats Bills which he is available to ref. hope this makes sense for you, if not be sure to ask questions for clarification.

Tex December 26, 2008 at 12:57 pm

Panthers VS Saints is wrong -> Erase Scott Green (Sorry)

Scott Green is working the Cowboys VS Eagles in WK #17 2008

Tex

Reply

mickey December 26, 2008 at 1:05 pm

Thanks, Tex. Corrections made.

Reply

Russ December 26, 2008 at 1:24 pm

Now everything makes sense:

Panthers@Sains-Jerome Boger
Patriots@Bills-Pete Morelli
Redskins@49ers-Al Riveron

Reply

Russ December 26, 2008 at 1:39 pm

wait, I made a mistske!

Boger cannot be in New Orleans. he did Saints@Buccaneeers in week 13 meaning he doesn’t have enough time off. i have run out of ideas so I think we should wait till Sunday. If I come up with anything I will tell you.

Reply

Russ December 26, 2008 at 2:20 pm

These are the only refs available for Panthers@Saints are Ron Winter, Jeff triplette, Bill Carolo, and Terry McAulay. But since all of these have been confirmed to another game, I think we should get links to where these people found these confirmations. If we cannot find them, then the game may be wrong. It is very possible that I was wrong with the Jeff Triplette in Pittsburgh confirmation as well.

Reply

KMG 365 December 26, 2008 at 5:59 pm

Russ, there only has to be a four-week difference between a referee working the same team, not five. There are examples of where a ref worked the same team only four weeks apart.

Triplette worked the Raiders in weeks 8 and 12. Boger worked the Ravens in weeks 6 and 10. Winter worked the Bengals in weeks 8 and 12.

Your guesses are correct as to where Boger, Morelli and Riveron are working this week.

CAR/NO — Boger
NE/BUF — Morelli
WAS/SF — Riveron

mickey December 26, 2008 at 8:38 pm

Those finish it up for the week! Do I have them all straight?

Reply

Russ December 26, 2008 at 9:04 pm

I wouldn’t be so sure that these are correct just yet. i am still looking for confirmations on some of these games.

Reply

Russ December 26, 2008 at 9:20 pm

KMG 365, there are reason why those people had 4 weeks in between. Winter was not originally supposed to do the Bengals in week 8. Because of the Ravens Texans cancelled game in week 2, Texans Bengals was changed from week 10 to week 8. Since this was an extra game added to week 8 they needed an extra referee. Winter was originally off in week 8. This also adds into the Boger and the Ravens situation. at the beginning of the season when the schedules are assigned, Boger was scheduled to do Bengals@Texans in week 10. Because of the flood, Bengals@Texans became Ravens@Texans but the NFL did want to mess with everyone’s schedule so it just stayed as is. but that game for Boger is credidted to the Bengals, not the Ravens. That is why Boger could not have done Chiefs@Bengals this week. He had already done the Bengals twice this year in a sense. The only one i am not sure about is Jeff Triplette. But my theory is Carl Cheffers was the original referee for the Raiders@Ravens but was replaced by Jeff triplette due to injury or traveling problems since all of Triplette’s crew was there. i don’t know, it was just a theory. i would not say these assignments are final just yet.

NFL75 December 27, 2008 at 5:22 pm

Al Riveron is doing the Jaguars-Ravens game.

Reply

larry phillips December 27, 2008 at 6:37 pm

the dallas morning news confirms that scott green’s crew will be officiating the cowboys-eagles game on sunday.

If Riveron is doing the JAC/BAL game, then who is doing WAS/SF?
