Week 3 referee assignments

Week 2 is just about over, so it’s time to start looking at the week 3 assignment list.

We’ve got a few of them in place already, so please post if you hear of more (and be sure to let us know how you know of them).  Thanks!

The 2011 NFL season is under way!

We’re less than two hours from the opening night kick-off — the NFL is back!

We’re still sorting out the referee assignments for this weekend, but we know that Clete Blakeman and his crew will be working the New Orleans/Green Bay game tonight.  It should be a great one to watch.

We’ll keep filling out the full week 1 assignment page, which is almost complete already so leave a comment over there if you know of any other confirmed assignments.  Enjoy the game tonight!

The preason is just about over; time to start looking at the week 1 refs

We’ve just finished up the Preseason Week 4 page, thanks to input from quite a few of you.  Since every decent player will be taken out of the game very early this week, it’s time to turn our attention to week 1 of the regular season.  We’ve had a few tips come in, but we’re still waiting on most of the names.

If you learn of an assignment for one of the empty games, please post a comment over there and let us know about it!  If   possible, let us know how you know that information so it can be verified.

The season is almost here!

The 2011 Preseason is underway

Week 1 is behind us, and week 2 starts tonight.  So far we haven’t been able to confirm any assignments for the games this week, so leave a comment if you know of any.

The full week 2 list is here, and we’ll be updating it as we get information about which ref will be at each game.

Todd Geerlings’ excessive celebration penalty on Kansas State’s Adrian Hillburn

This has been a HOT topic today, with Todd Geerlings’ page receiving over 150 comments so far. Geerlings crew called an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty during last night’s Pinstripe Bowl when Kansas State’s Adrian Hilburn scored a late touchdown and saluted the crowd. The penalty forced the Wildcats to try a game-tying 2-point conversion from 17 yards out, and Syracuse wound up winning 36-34.

Here is a clip of the play:

Interestingly, here is a Syracuse touchdown from earlier in the game where the player uses two hands to form a diamond shape to the crowd. Is that less “excessive”?

I didn’t see the game live, so I can’t say for sure. However, it seems like his crew blew the call. Your thoughts?
