Football Ref says
Mike Shepherd has the Thursday night game at Baltimore
Preth says
Thanks again. 🙂
david says
Yes he does !!! He will be selling Beer in the stands !!!
Preth says
Now now David, don’t get carried away… 😉
JPTitans85 says
Per Titans, Ken Roan and his crew in Houston for TEN-HOU
Michael says
Frazer on MNF
Tony Jia says
Is it still a possibility that replacement refs get to work week four?
Preth says
I haven’t ruled it out. If it turns out that the regular guys will return, deleting the progress made will be work I don’t mind doing…
Brian says
ESPN says we may just get the regulars back for Sunday’s games. It would be awfully hard to get a crew of regulars in for the Ravens-Browns game Thursday, I would think, but it’s looking good nonetheless that the lockout is pretty much over.
Preth says
As soon as a deal is announced, the top post on the front page will reflect it! Looking forward to business as usual around here…
Brian says
Amen to that.
Janna78 says
I am glad make that elated the real referees are back to work. The debacle Monday night helped the owners and Goodelll wake up and smell the coffee
SportingBecky says
Note:
The REAL NFL Officials do not have their Nike Uniforms… They are locked up at DFW, TX Airport. Plus they have to fly into DFW, TX go to their Hotel(Irving, TX) vote on agreement & have a short clinic.
I do not see the Real Referees working Thursday Night Game…. also trying to get all 121 Officials Plane Tickets and get them out to their games on via Saturday… to work Sunday.. The owners are greedy already and to spend BIG BUCKS to get Real Refs on the field…. no…. Ughhh I would like to have them back.. do not see it happening WK #4.
Ben says
Regarding the uniforms, do you have a link to source that? I find that an interesting aspect to the story, and for my coverage I’d like to read more.
But, I know you know things that don’t have a published source 😉
SportingBecky says
Hi Ben,
No Link.. just awesome source.. 😀
mr. bamboosaul says
Watching ESPN, chris mortenson just stated that a deal could be forthcoming soon. I have to agree with sporting becky regarding the NFL regular refs being on the field this week. This will be the last week of scab refs.
I was getting use to watching the games with the scab refs. I kind of like the everything goes tactics in the games, which resulted unpredictability. Will this type of football continue under the scab refs.
mr. bamboosaul says
I meant will the unpredictability of games continue with the regular refs?
Preth says
To an extent, all NFL games are unpredictable, regardless of who the officials are.
Ben says
Jerry Hughes in Orchard Park. Richard “Matt” Nicks in Denver.
david says
Never thought I would say this, but I would love to see Ron Winter and his crew at the “Bank” tomorrow night !!! Joe, stop laughing !!!
James says
You’re ready to get “Wintered” already? 😀 I kid… I kid…
Chris says
Deal is done.

ManinBlue says
Alright….who is going to be first in with the scoop on who has the game tomorrow in Baltimore.
david says
Terry McAulay !!!
david says
My guess, He lives 15 miles away from the Stadium !!!
Tony says
I hope it’s Gene Steratore! My personal favorite! But any of them will be fine. Glad it’s over.
david says
Doesn”t Gene have a pre- season Big East Basketball game to do ??? lol
Janna78 says
Tony you are right, I am glad the strike is over .
David says
Does anybody know if Tony Corrente will be able to work as a referee, or if he’s still battling throat cancer?
Preth says
Last I heard, he’s ready to go!
SportingBecky says
Yes Tony Corrente Ready to go… like Preth said…. He helped work an NCAA Hawaii Officials clinic in the Summer. He looks great!
Ben says
I was in contact with Tony right before the deal was announced. He is ready to go, and he appreciates everyone who has expressed concern. I hope to have something on the record for this weekend …….
Janna78 says
I am glad Tony Corrente is ready to go. He had alot of people praying for him and that helped.
Bronson says
heck yea bout time maybe my favorite football team getting robbed was the wake up call for this to get moving and Ill be a happy fan watching from here in Greenbay now my tickets got value WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO and idc if its even Jeff Tripplete anything is better then another cheapshot from Replacements But let us not forget there only doing the Job cause Certian peoples actions lead to it Confused Yes but in MY opinion they still desesrve a round of applause for having the nuts to go out weekly Screw ups or not that takes Guts
Mark says
I think McAulay will be Referee in Baltimore tonight.
Mark says
Probably Green and Triplette will be the 2 Referees not working.
Kenneth says
i was thinking the same thing. They’ll probably hang out in Dallas for the weekend after the referees all sign officially and get everything settled in.
Avi says
Assuming there are still 17 refs, 3 of them would be off this week since two teams have byes.
Preth says
One crew is off every week, automatically. One crew is off for every two teams off. Two crews will be off in Week 4.
Avi says
Right, Preth, but it adds up to 3 refs/crews total unless Steratore was to work a game Sunday or Monday, which I don’t believe he is.
Preth says
You’ll want to check your math. Two teams are off (PIT and IND), that’s one crew. 1 + 1 = 2. 😉
Matt Baehner says
Who has the Cincinnati-Jacksonville game?
Mike says
Green is from DC so I would not rule him out for tonight
Mike says
Unconfirmed media reports from Baltimore say that Gene Steratore’s crew may have this game
Rodney says
When someone knows would like to know who’s doing the Dallas Chicago game.
Camps says
I’ll let you know, Rodney.
RJ says
Good to have the big boys back…Looking forward to another year Preth
rappel says
I’ve heard that Mike Carey’s crew is on Cle-Bal.
Kenneth says
@ravensinsider says on twitter that it is Gene Steratore with his usual crew, except Greg Steed, a DC-area resident is the back judge, replacing Dino Paganelli.
popeyes says
If the NFL wants joe public to know that the passed weeks were an anomaly, chosing Carey to start off is an excellent choice. He is one of the top 5 WHs as for as competnce, and he has a commanding presence. Welcome back WHs!
West PA says
Gene Steratore has tonight’s game. I am 100% certain of it.
Shane Spencer says
I hope Jerome Boger gets the NYG @ PHI game.
Mike says
Man I hope not. NYG @ PHI is always a very hard fought game with a lot of tension between the two teams and Boger is not the best official for those sort of games. Not to mention he is not the most articulate on the mic and the league will want to put their best foot forward in the primetime games early on. My guess would be John Parry as by reports I recall reading he had the top ranked crew last year (no changes in crews between 2011 and 2012) and living in Ohio it will be easier for him to get to Philly than some other destinations this week
Ben says
I hear Jim Core is available for the Giants game.
Mike says
The sad part is I think he would be an improvement over Jerome Boger who was ranked 16th or 17th among NFL Referees last year based on the fact that he and Scott Green, who missed time with an injury, were the only two Referees who did not receive a playoff or alternate assignment (Core is probably the only replacement official I can say that about)
Kenneth says
i disagree. Boger doesn’t have the best microphone presence, but he’s good. Core was the best of the scabs, still nowhere near good enough to be in Boger’s place. Core couldn’t do D1.
Camps says
Folks in Chicago are speculating that Hoculi will do the Monday night game Chicago Bears @ Dallas Cowboys. But that’s purely speculation.
Rodney says
Thanks Camps
rappel says
Apologies, Rich Eisen just said it is Steratore tonight. Good pick.
Kenneth says
with his usual crew, except Steed replaces Paganelli and DeBell replaces Weatherford.
Bill says
Ed Hochuli is about to be on the radio on our local sports station. I’ll let you know if he confirms where he’s officiating at.
Bill says
Nope…no news.
Preth says
No worries – thanks Bill. I think there’s a pretty good chance we’ll learn Ed’s assignment ahead of time, anyway.
Texas Jack says
PLEASE do not let High-Five Boger work ANY Texans games this season…not after he drove Colts length of field and scored on a 2 yard run (OK he was making sure they got to end zone..kind of like how he helped his bud VY)
Ryan says
Hey guys, spoke to a member of Hochuli’s crew and you’ve all been wondering where he is. He said they will find out this afternoon and will let me know. Just a heads up
Tony says
Will there be any new referees this year? Is any referees retiring? I personally think Walt Coleman should retire, isn’t he in late ‘s.
Preth says
Nobody new this year. Some officials will probably retire before too long, especially with only five years remaining on the current pension. If I were to hazard a guess, Coleman would probably be among them.
Camps says
Adam Shefter just reported Mike Carey for Seahawks-Rams
Michael says
who has the sf @ jets game? thanks guys
SportingBecky says
I am thinking we cannot go off the 2011 crews for 2012
I heard that #91 Bergman is in Atlanta with Walt Coleman…… Last year he was with Boger….
Preth says
Good point. Guess we’ll have to see who’s with who this weekend, and go from there.
SportingBecky says
Yes Preth
Matt Baehner says
Will Morelli work a game this week? If so, which 1? He is a favorite of mine.
Preth says
If we knew, he’d be on the chart. 🙂

2 Officials retired….
Joe 83 says
Hi all folks. Please can you tell us the 2 officials retired. Thanks
Preth says
Thanks Becky, the crews page will be updated tonight.
(Edit 12:30 EST Sunday: Updating right now, sorry.)
Avi says
I was wondering what Swing Officials meant-I could have sworn I posted this yesterday but don’t see it now-strange.
Avi says
Oh THAT’S what Swing officials mean, thanks. Well I get more or less what it means but still hoped and thought it would be addressed by now.
Adam says
Steratore at GB game too?
“After the euphoria of the moment wears off, probably sometime early in the second quarter, it’ll be back to regular NFL football mode,” said referee Gene Steratore, who will head to Green Bay for Sunday’s game, one week after Packers players ripped the replacements over Monday’s disputed touchdown.
Preth says
Possibly. But I’m pretty confident that Triplette will be doing the work at that game.
Janna78 says
Without the letters on their uniforms, how do I differintiate the field Judge from the Head Linesman etc? With the new uniforms, I can onl see who the referee is. arrrgh arrrgh.
Preth says
Well, there are clues that can help, besides looking up their numbers. The HL and LJ are the two officials at the line of scrimmage. The SJ and FJ work deep along the sideline, and the BJ works deep in the middle. The U works behind the offense.
Welcome back, Janna. 🙂
Janna78 says
Thank you Preth. It is good to be back.
Kenneth says
The new uniforms do have the letters on them, just above the numbers on the back, unless the BJ in Atlanta is wearing the wrong shirt
daveydy says
Anybody watch Sunday’s late game on Fox?
Triplette & crew really blew that “fumble” call, calling it ‘down by contact’…Fans went nuts. At least GB won the game or controversy would be there again. AND, did you see how Triplette
gets angry? He can’t handle the pressure.
bob says
No way to sugar coat it that was a bad call. But the up tick in officiating more than compensated for a few bad calls this weekend. Watching the Bills/Pats game for instance, the Parry led crew seemed to be in control and called a good game.
Preth says
I agree. I was impressed with most crews – I would have expected a little bit more rust, on average.
