I don’t think they’re the “worst”, but controversy seems to follow Ron Winter and Triplette. I personally don’t care for Pete Morelli ( and he has had his share of screw ups) but the NFL seems to like him.

I don’t know if there is a “best” but my top 5 would have to be: Steratore, Parry, Hochuli, McAulay, and Mike Carey. These guys have the best control of the games they officiate and seem to avoid controversy ( save Steratore and Calvin Johnson last year, but he got that call right by the book)

I agree with the names you mentioned, all good ones. I think Walt Anderson and Tony Corrente are up there, as well. For the most part, I think most of the current group of referees are good. The only ones I’m not a fan of are Ron Winter and Jeff Triplette

Mike Carey. Did a great job in SB 42 and never seems to have any controversial calls. Corrente, Anderson, and Leavy. Yes I know all about Seahawks/Steelers but aside from that Leavy is a very solid referee.

It’s true, Leavy has a great reputation overal. I’m not sure what happened on Super Bowl XL, but at least he had the backbone to stand up admit his goofs. He lost points with me after that game, but gained them back when he manned up. That’s something you’ll never see, say, Walt Coleman do. Ever…

It is Thursday night 10:43pm CST, I see only 6 names for 13 games. So half the games aren’t known 72 hours before they go off, I know you guys work hard to bring us this information. But as a fan would like to know if we get a pro referee or 2nd year Blakeman, believe me I now dread 2 inexperienced referees (Cheffers & Blakeman). Too bad there isn’t an NFL minor league so when they step on field, we get experience not 2nd coming of Howdy Doody

This is not a good week to provide you with that information. Information can normally be provided for 5/6 of the teams with a bye this week, the exception being Cleveland. Information can normally be provided for both Tennessee and Walt Anderson, and for both Chicago and Detroit.

I’m going to assume Leavy and Corrente are both off, based on what you guys are saying. If that’s true, here are the remaining possibilities:

    AZ/MIN — Carey Green
    TB/SF — Carey Green McAulay
NYJ/NE — Triplette Boger McAulay Winter
GB/ATL — Triplette Boger McAulay Winter

And it’s a pretty safe assumption that Boger has a game, meaning at least one of Triplette and Winter do not.

Triplette’s next screw up will be on SNF. He is the WORST referee out there and cant get it through his pea sized brain to quit. He threw the penalty flag in the Cleveland player’s eye, complained about it raining during a game last year, then had no idea where the new kickoff line was.

At least a few years ago when he got in the way of a Jets player, the player slammed him down to the ground instead of twisting his ankle trying to run around him.

If you mean Boger for Jets-Patriots, it’s like I said, about 99% sure. He had a week off in Week 2, and most referees get two weeks off, but the odds that Boger was scheduled for both of his in the first five weeks are pretty tiny.

That said, because Triplette has Packers-Falcons, Jets-Patriots is the only remaining game that Boger is eligible for.
